NewsBrooklyn venue McCarren Pool to receive massive fund injectionOutdoor Brooklyn venue McCarren Pool is set to receive a massive injection of funds which will see the venue turned back into a swimming pool again. The new swimming pool will be significantly smaller than the current size, which has been unused for many years. The past two summers have seen the pool used as a venue for shows, which have included performances from the likes of Sonic Youth, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Shins and the Beastie Boys first-ever Brooklyn show last week. The Department of Parks and Recreation[/b] are asking the public for their say in the future of the pool, with the only set stipulations being that the bathhouse and entry arch be preserved, that there is a swimming pool and that a year-round recreation centre is created. One of the options in the survey is to vote for the pool to be used a concert/film venue which would allow the shows to continue in addition to using the pool for it's original purpose. There is also an option to vote for the centre to house an ice/roller skating rink. Kid Rock sidekick pleads guilty to assault Unkle Kracker pleaded guilty today (September 28) to an assault charge stemming from an incident at a North Carolina nightclub in August. The former Kid Rock DJ was charged after a 26-year-old woman alleged that he had committed a sexual act against her. The woman then slapped Kracker, whose real name is Matthew Shafer, and he slapped her back, according to the District Attorney's office. A Wake County judge has sentenced the singer to 12 months' probation, fined him $1,500 and ordered him to undergo an alcohol assessment, reports the Associated Press. In addition to working with Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker dueted with country music star Kenny Chesney on the hit 'When The Sun Goes Down'. |
